In August 2025, the "Il Casale sul Lago" artistic residency program was held, under the artistic direction of the Cuore dei Confine association. Five artists from different Italian regions were invited to work closely with the local community, then present their artistic interventions within the tourist hub.
In the initial exploration of the area, the artists were guided to discover both the historical and artistic features of Barrea, its urban fabric, its millennial history, and its environmental features such as flora and fauna, as well as some particularly significant trails in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park.
This was followed by the design of visual works, which took into account the artistic expressions of each artist and the peculiarities of the territory, finalizing this research towards the production of works capable of creating a "soul" for the interiors of the tourist hub.
The artworks were then installed in dedicated spaces within the structure, with the aim of offering visitors an emotional experience, the result of a close combination of artistic languages, local knowledge, and site-specific visual processing.
